introduction

Many of you know how the Todd Family feels about journeys. We try to keep an eternal destination always in view, while focusing on finding joy in the way we choose to get there. We are so grateful for the knowledge we have about where we want to ultimately be... in the presence of a loving Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, who made it possible for us to achieve that destination. We have been sent to this earth to see if we can reach our potential, becoming all that Heavenly Father wants us to be. Sometimes the journey back to our Heavenly home takes us through wide, gentle paths and sometimes the road is treacherous and unknown. Regardless, we feel that with every step we take, we should be looking for the beauty around us... learning from our fellow sojourners and relying on the maps that were provided to us to get through. Sometimes it is easy to happily skip along, but often we struggle, wondering if we will make it, and recognizing in the end that we can do hard things that we would have not previously thought possible. These are often the stretches of road that bring the most joy... the difficult ones. We have recently found ourselves on “a road less traveled” and, since we can’t turn around, we have decided to find joy in the opportunity to go there... to become better for having trod this new path. We hope that none of you will have to take this route, and can instead experience the vistas through us as you follow this blog. Here we go... Remember to enjoy the journey!

Accelerating Through the Turn

So, we are officially heading to Lehi, Utah!  Derek is on the phone with the Mayor there and it sounds like everything is in line to proceed forward.  We are so appreciative of that City Council for giving Derek the opportunity to work as the City Administrator and especially grateful to Heavenly Father for  hearing the prayers of many.

We plan to list our house as soon as possible, make a trip to Lehi to secure new housing for our family, address the concerns of our children by meeting with new schools, research new doctors while getting a few chemotherapy treatments under way here, and hopefully transition to our new world over Spring Break.  Derek will start working for the City of Lehi on April 1st.

We are so grateful for all the prayers offered that we would receive the right employment for our family.  It has taken almost nine months for us to land in the place that the Lord had in mind for us, and we do feel like Lehi is where we are supposed to be at this time.  We might not have envisioned ourselves there when we began this process, but we have known all along that the Lord's hand was working to put all the pieces in place for us.  It has been humbling to watch it happen and know that it is right.

For those who don't know, Lehi is a growing community of 55,000 people between Salt Lake City and Provo, Utah.  We have a lot of wonderful family there and it will be fun to return to the area where we met and married.  We are truly hopeful that many of our dear friends will visit us there!!

    That is good news for you! I'm glad they made the right choice. They'll be lucky to have a professional! :)

    Thanks much for keeping us informed. I will now relay this wonderful news to a bunch of folks here in Renton and in the Northwest who have been holding their breath and hoping for the best. You may be able to hear the collective sigh of relief from there!
    You are in the thoughts and prayers of both the Seattle and Columbia River Temple districts, and many other folks not of our faith will continue to pull for you all as you now enter this next round of challenges and blessings.

    The Lord always knows what is best for us even when we fuss and interfere with His plans about every step of the way, it seems! What a wonderful testimony of how He meets our needs like the sparrows in the field if we just trust in Him. We will miss you as physical neighbors but are blessed to have made a special friendship with your family. And you're welcome to "bunk" with us if and when you need to.     I'm so thrilled you are coming! What an amazing thing for the Mayor to be such an instrument in the Lord's hands! Please let me know if you need help in any way and when you are set to arrive. I would love to help watch kids, shuttle kids, move in...whatever! I'm sure you are sad to leave those you love in Colorado, but we feel lucky having you come back!
